Secret Training STEALTH banana gels – A Review
For many years I have struggled to get my race nutrition right. From the high sugar, sickly sweet syrup-like consistencies of many products on the market to watery gels that resemble an electrolyte drink. This means that I have never got it quite right, and have more often than not ended up either running completely out of all reserves or with a ‘less than happy’ stomach. Proper nutrition can very much make or break a race or training session – and a fundamental thing for any athlete to get right.
And that has always been the case with me, and something I had began to accept, until I discovered the STEALTH nutrition products.
It’s always a little bit of a step into the unknown trying out a brand new product. Not quite knowing how it is going to sit, and what you are going to feel like twenty minutes or so after taking it on. But when I heard that the STEALTH products were made using entirely natural ingredients, I was intrigued. Especially given that the man at the helm is Tim Lawson – a formidable force in sports nutrition and one of the most experienced names in the industry.
So I decided to give them a try, being a few months out from race season meant that there was plenty of time to test them out – and I was open-minded, after all, as nothing had worked for me to date, what did I have to lose?
And what can I say? From the very outset I knew that I had discovered an absolute gem. And I found one product in the range to be especially good – the STEALTH real fruit banana energy gel.
‘Made using real bananas’
The gel has a smooth consistency, like sweet banana puree; quite unlike anything I have tried before. It is incredibly easy to take them on and they have had absolutely no adverse effects on my stomach, providing an easy, effective energy hit throughout both my training and racing. I find it is possible to take it on with, or without water, which makes it super convenient for those times when you do not have access to water, or don’t want to necessarily take on any liquids.
So it is safe to say that I have my nutritional strategy nailed for the rest of the season. This is the first time I have been able to take on a gel as I am running. Ever.
That in it’s own right is an incredible feat and I would recommend anyone who traditionally struggles with gels and an upset stomach to give these a try.
Tim and the team have really excelled with this new range, and it is no doubt going to provide a much needed ‘shake up’ the sports nutrition market.
